Although there were rumours swirling, Nintendo surprised most of us today by debuting a new Nintendo Direct Mini in order to announce a number of upcoming releases and new content coming to the Switch. Boy, was it a good one too! You can watch all the news as it’s unveiled in the video below, or scroll down for our summary of events.

First up, we have The World Ends With You -Final Remix-, a remaster of the stylish action-RPG released on the Nintendo DS back in 2007. The Switch version will be out later this year and feature reworked touch controls and the option to play with the Joy-Cons, as well as a whole new scenario to play through.

In DLC news, Donkey Kong will be coming to the excellent strategic-shooter Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle as a new hero and with his own campaign set in a new world. New Pokémon are set to be added to Pokkén Tournament DX, including Blastoise and Aegislash. Lastly, Super Mario Odyssey will be getting a free update which adds a new competitive Balloon Hunt mode, new cosmetic items and a handful of extra photo filters.

We had new game announcements too, including the latest outing for Mario and co on the tennis court in Mario Tennis Aces, and all female fighter SNK HEROINES Tag Team Frenzy.

To wrap up, a handful of other Switch ports were announced – some of which are massive. There’s Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition – excellent news for anyone who missed either of these games on the Wii U. Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana will also be coming to the Switch after its launch late last year.

The big one, however, is Dark Souls Remastered. From Software’s painfully difficult and atmospheric RPG will be coming to a Nintendo console for the first time on May 25th.
