The official LEGO online store has made Star Wars 75204 Sandspeeder available to order for US customers.

LEGO Star Wars 75204 Sandspeeder started showing up at Target stores some weeks ago, and now Rebelscum reports that the set is available to order at shop.LEGO.com. The set is not shipping immediately, it’s listed as “on back order” due to ship by December 18th. It’s 278 pieces and currently priced at $29.99. No international release has been confirmed – so, it might be time to start calling in favours with friends on the other side of the Pond.

With Star Wars: The Last Jedi about to be released in cinemas around the world, many assumed that the Sandspeeder will appear in the new movie, but nothing indicates a desert world appearing in Rian Johnson’s new film.

The Sandspeeder was planned to be implemented into Kenner’s The Epic Continues storyline, but the line had been cancelled. It was included in a binder containing several images of planned toys within The Epic Continues, some of which later appeared in the article Tales of Phantom Toys in Star Wars Galaxy Magazine. It eventually appeared in canon with the Special Saga Edition of the Customizable Card Game, as one of the light-side cards.

According to Wookieepedia, the Sandspeeder was a variant of the Incom T-47 airspeeder utilized by the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War. It was modified specifically to undergo operations in hot, dry conditions. The Drive section was left exposed for easier maintenance, although the airspeeder itself was enclosed. It also had a maximum speed of 600 kilometers per hour. They had been developed shortly after the Alliance had modified the T-47 airspeeder to operate on Hoth, leaving the modifications of the same airspeeder for arid environments relatively simple.
