The first teaser for the live-action adaptation of Hiroya Oku manga Inuyashiki has arrived, as reported on Natalie.

The manga focuses on 58-year-old Ichiro Inuyashiki (Noritake Kinashi), a salaryman living a humdrum existence. He has no friends, his own family ignores him and his doctor has just given him the news that he has cancer. One night when walking his dog, Inuyashiki is struck by a mysterious light. He later wakes up to find himself unharmed but notices that he now has powerful abilities. However, Inuyashiki was not the only transformed that night.

The teaser offers a brief glimpse of Inuyashiki’s abilities and his adversary Hiro Shishigami.

The film is directed by Shinsuke Sato, who also helmed live-action adaptations of Gantz, Gantz: Perfect Answer and I Am a Hero. Sato is also directing the big screen version of Bleach. The film also stars Takeru Satoh as antagonist, Hiro Shishigami, as well as Naoyuki Ando, Fumi Nikaido, Ayaka Miyoshi and Nayuta Fukuzaki.

The manga already has an anime series adaptation, which has been airing in Japan and can be viewed internationally on Amazon Prime Video.

Inuyashiki opens in Japan on 20 April 2018.
