For 13 long years – my God, has it really been that long – we have wished, almost every day, for a sequel to the…incredible, first Incredibles movie.
Director Brad Bird spoke about the film earlier this year at D23, saying how he’ll bring back Mr. Incredible (Craig T. Nelson) and Elastigirl (Holly Hunter) and their children, Violet (Sarah Vowell), Dashiell (Huck Milner) and baby Jack Jack.
“It’s fundamentally a story about family,” Bird said, noting that improved CGI means they can do even more with the sequel. “The technology has gotten so much better; we can get them close to what we wanted to do in the [original]. It’s like driving a better car.”
Samuel L. Jackson also returns as Frozone, and Bird is reprising his role as Edna Mode. Because you couldn’t make a sequel without either of those two. Also, John Ratzenberger is listed as “The Underminer” and Nicole Paradis Grindle and John Walker are producing. Incredibles 2 is set for release on June 15, 2018.
