Blizzard has confirmed that the latest Hearthstone expansion, Kobolds and Catacombs, will be released on December 8th.

The third expansion of the year for the Warcraft CCG will add another 135 new cards to the game with an old-school tabletop RPG/Dungeons & Dragons theme. Each of the nine classes will be given a legendary weapon, while the new ‘Recruit’ keyword will be prominent on some cards allowing you to summon minions for free from your deck when played.

Two new card types will also be added: Spellstones and Unidentified Items. Spellstones are cards you can upgrade over the course of a game by fulfilling certain conditions, whereas Unidentified Items gain an additional random effect when drawn.

If you’re interested in single player content, the new Dungeon Run game mode will be added with Kobolds and Catacombs. This mode starts you off with a fairly weak deck which you grow and expand after beating bosses. These encounters get tougher as you go and the challenge is to see how far you can make it in a run without being defeated.

You can pre-order 50 Kobolds and Catacombs card packs right now for the discounted price of £44.99. Players who log in after release on December 8th will also be rewarded with a free legendary weapon and three free card packs.
