Square Enix has given us a closer look at Lost Sphear with a brand new trailer that dives further into the story of the forthcoming release from developer Tokyo RPG Factory.

Focusing on the game’s protagonist, Kanata, we learn more about his background as a self-taught swordsman and his role as a monster slayer. When we join him in Lost Sphear, however, he’s acquired new powers that allow him to restore missing parts of the world with collected memories.

There’s also something about how the moon created the world… OK then!

We get to see some more of the game’s combat too, which will be immediately familiar to anyone who’s played the developer’s first title, I Am Setsuna, or its inspiration, Chrono Trigger.

Lost Sphear is scheduled for release on January 23rd for PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
