Devolver Digital announces ‘cyberpunk thriller’ The Red Strings Club

With Blade Runner 2049 still fresh in everyone’s mind, now’s a good time to be making a cyberpunk neo-noir thriller. Oh, look, that’s exactly what Deconstructeam and Devolver have just announced! And it looks like a suitably neon-drenched point-and-click adventure.

The Red Strings Club is described as a ‘cyberpunk narrative experience about fate and happiness’ in which you use pottery, bartending and social engineering to thwart a corporate conspiracy. Yep, pottery.

Not a clue how that will help the game’s group of rebels stop Supercontinent Ltd from implementing their Social Psyche Welfare, which can apparently eliminate depression, anger and fear from society.

If the name Deconstructeam sounds familiar to you then you’ve probably played or seen Gods Will be Watching. That was a fascinating experimental game that remixed a lot of expectations surrounding the point-and-click adventure genre while placing you in some tense and complex scenarios.

It’ll be very interesting to see how those ideas have developed in The Red Strings Club, which is currently scheduled for release in January 2018 for PC.
