Bandai Namco and All the Anime teamed up at MCM London Comic Con to bring an exclusive preview of the highly anticipated new game, Little Witch Academia: Chamber of Time, the next instalment in the popular anime franchise.

The panel was hosted by Bandai Namco producer Yosuke Futami, series director Yoh Yoshinari, series producers Naoko Tsutsumi and Katsuhiro Takei of Studio Trigger. The group were bright and talkative on the Saturday afternoon, engaging with the audience and asking for their input on what was being shown, even speaking through a translator their enthusiasm for the project was clear.

Futami took control of the panel, steering the discussion and setting up their announcements and footage, some of which had never even been seen before. Fans were beside themselves with excitement as the guests presented a trailer for the game, preview footage of gameplay of explorable maps and interactive battles, and anime cut-scenes made especially for the game by the team behind the original series.

The first clip showed Akko, Sucy and Lotte discover the eponymous Chamber of Time which plunges the academy into a Groundhog Day-style time-loop. While the second saw Akko attempt to catch a magical skeleton that’s one of the Seven Wonders she needs to collect to bring time back to normal. The game combines 3D characters, RPG-style battles and anime scenes to provide an exciting new chapter in the franchise’s story, and, according to Futami, the game “has the same feel that Trigger made for the series.”

There will be seven playable characters in the game, and players will have a lot of freedom to walk around the Luna Nova Magical Academy, which the panel revealed will be entirely explorable. Characters who have spent most of their time in the background of the anime, including teachers, will also have their own voices, and they will each get the chance to play a role in Akko’s time-travelling quest.

Little Witch Academia: Chamber of Time will be released on PS4 and PC in Early 2018, and it will come with English, French, Italian, German and Spanish subtitles.
