Firstly, this article concerns the resurrection of a major Marvel character. If you’d rather not know who it is, then stop reading.

This week’s release of one-shot Marvel Legacy #1 will explore the past, touch base with the present, and set the stage for the future of the Marvel universe. Ahead of its release, Marvel revealed to ComicBook.com that Wolverine will be returning in Marvel Legacy #1. Not only is he back to life, but he’s also carrying an Infinity Stone.

“After three years of a Logan-free Marvel Universe, Logan is back, claws popped and ready for action,” said Marvel editor-in-chief Axel Alonso. How he came back, why he came back, and just how he came into possession of that Infinity Stone are part of a fascinating story that’s going to unveil soon, and in some unusual places.”

Wolverine was laid to rest back in 2014, with Charles Soule and Steve McNive’s Death of Wolverine. However, the character has existed in other forms. Notably Old Man Logan, an older version of the character from an alternate future, introduced in the Secret Wars event in 2015.

Written by Jason Aaron , with art by Esad Ribic, Russell Dauterman, Chris Samnee, Alex Maleev, Stuart Immonen, Pepe Larraz, Jim Cheung, Daniel Acuna, Greg Land, Ed McGuinness, Steve McNiven, Marvel Legacy #1 is available on 27 September 2017.
