Crowdfunded comic Vessels, the ongoing series from Dave Cook and Rafael Desquitado Jr, currently has two issues to its name.
Set in a medieval fantasy world, not all is as it seems in Vessels. The Earth is drying up, losing its fertility, and is under threat from a mysterious all-seeing eye that dominates the sky, reminiscent of Tolkien’s Sauron. Local mythology states that only a hero called Wake can beat the eye and save the world.
Vessels #3 will hit Kickstarter in October 2017 and MyM Buzz has been given an exclusive sneak peek at the cover…

Looks like Wake won’t be getting any tunes out of that instrument any time soon.
Issues #1 and #2 are reviewed in MyM magazine 66, which is out in shops tomorrow, and our reviewer thinks Vessels “has the feel of a modernisation of the classic ’80s Dungeons & Dragons cartoon… [although] this is vastly more sophisticated.”

UPDATE: Dave Cook has also been in touch to talk about Killtopia, which launches on Kickstarter in February 2018, and already has a couple of killer pieces of promo art. “It’s a tribute to old-school manga movies like Guyver, Akira, Ghost in the Shell – all about robot hunters in future Japan,” he tells MyMBuzz.com.
