It was inevitable that in the wake of…well…It, more Stephen King adaptations would be heading down the pipe. Now, we’ve got confirmation of the first.

And it’s actually a pretty smart choice. King’s 1972 short story Suffer The Little Children sees a strict disciplinarian teacher struggle to come to terms with the mysterious children in her care. Are they human? Is she imagining the odd texture of their skin? Well, odds are, no. It is a Stephen King story. It’s also a surprisingly popular one and if you’re interested there are at least two fan adaptations of it and an audio version on youtube which are worth tracking down.

Sean Carter, who has previously worked with Insidious’ Leigh Wannell and done a raft of documentaries is on deck to write and direct. It seems to be moving pretty quickly too so don’t be surprised if class is in session very soon.

Thanks to our friends at Empire for the initial story.
