Realm of the Damned – Tenebris Deos REVIEW

Realm of the Damned – Tenebris Deos REVIEW

The monsters have won and our world now belongs to them – but try telling that to Alberic Van Helsing, whose rapid transformation into monster hunter kicks off Alec Worley’s bloody, foul-mouthed, apocalyptic tale. Yet this world-weary vampire-blood junkie must join forces with his enemies when black metal band the Sons of Balaur raise their master from the dead.

There’s so much to like about Realm of the Damned, of which Tenebris Deos is the first of three planned parts. Vampire queen Athena’s pronouncement that “of all the monsters that could rule this world, we are the most humane” is all the world building you need, Aliza Sweary’s modern take on an Egyptian deity is refreshing and the pounding music helps bring more ‘action’ to this motion comic.

The DVD & Blu-ray versions include six stylish character cards and a booklet expanding upon those (it also lists the Sons of Balaur’s album Tenebris Deos, which is a real thing and available to buy!). Meanwhile, those renting the digital version on Swigit get an exclusive Cradle of Filth track ‘You Will Know the Lion By His Claw’ from the band’s new album Cryptoriana – The Seductiveness Of Decay.
