Nintendo’s NES Classic Mini to go back into production

The news first came from Nintendo in Japan when they tweeted that the Famicom Mini would be going back into production in 2018. It didn’t take long for Nintendo UK to follow suit and reveal that the NES Mini will be back in UK stores next summer.

Nintendo UK tweeted that they will “bring the Nintendo Classic Mini: NES back to Europe next summer,” with more information to be revealed in the future.

On top of that, they also confirmed that they will continue to ship stock of the SNES Classic Mini to Europe in 2018. Nintendo had planned to stop shipments of the miniature SNES console at the end of 2017.

Nintendo originally released the NES Classic Mini back in November 2016 at just £49.99. Given the high demand, it sold out instantly and went on to sell over 1.5 million units worldwide. Then, in April 2017, Nintendo revealed that they would discontinue production of the retro console, and never really gave an explanation as to why (though they did state that it was never meant to be a long-term product). The news eventually resulted in the NES Classic Mini going for crazy prices on eBay, selling for as high as £250.

If you can afford to wait till next summer (and don’t need one for Christmas), then you’ll finally be able to get your hands on a NES Classic Mini without having to sell one of your kidneys.
