EDITOR’S LETTER

Hiya!

Sometimes it’s all about connections. Even as we put this magazine together, we see links across areas we hadn’t expected, pulling our content into a kind of spider’s web of information.

It could be the realisation that LeSean Thomas’ anime Cannon Busters is previewed as part of Netflix’s new slate of proposed shows (see page 50), having already been mentioned in our roundup of projects that began life on a crowdfunding site (page 47). It might be that we draw parallels between a comic-book adaption of a Hammer horror version of The Mummy (page 21), while Universal Studios’ version of the same character bothers the top half of our list in this month’s top 10 (page 76).

Perhaps it’s the feelings stirred by remembering the amazing Alien War experience – we were there! – as being one of the greatest spin-offs of Ridley Scott’s classic Alien (page 62), only to flick back and hear all about the new sequel to another of the greatest movies ever made, Sir Ridders’ Blade Runner (page 15).

But our favourite connections this month came from writer Sam Ashurst, who can trace a direct line between creating a movie short and shooting a music video for Channel 4, via pitching a film script and landing a gig on Arrow Video’s podcast team. As we told you in last month’s introduction, we’re always amazed at how the talented people featured in our magazine got to where they were going!
