The new anime of CLAMP’s Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card will air in Japan on NHK BS Premium at 7:30am on Sunday 7 January 2018, with new episodes then broadcast every Sunday.
The Clear Card arc begins with Sakura Kinomoto starting middle school and reuniting with Syaoran Li, who has returned from Hong Kong. However, after Sakura has a strange dream involving a mysterious hooded figure, she wakes up to discover that her magical cards are now blank and no longer work. Following another dream, Sakura is gifted a key from the hooded figure; a key that summons a new sealing wand which allows Sakura to collect new cards.
As reported on Anime News Network, the NHK Japan website for the anime was updated with new visuals revealing the voice actors behind the main cast.
Director Morio Asaka led the original anime series and returns to helm the new series for animation studio Madhouse, with CLAMP’s Nanase Ohkawa adapting the manga for the series. A promo video for the anime will be unveiled on 22 September.
The Clear Card arc manga was released in Japan in June 2016, with the English translation arriving via Kodansha Comics in November 2017.
