We visited the nuclear bunker where Tom Paton’s Black Site was being filmed this summer, and we can’t wait to bring you all the details in an upcoming issue of MyM magazine.

For now, enjoy this first teaser trailer, which contains all the elements you’d expect from something AirPick Pictures and Tom Paton Film describe as “HP Lovecraft meets The Raid”.

Black Site is the story of Ren Reid (Samantha Schnitzler), orphaned as a child when a member of an ancient race known as the Elder Gods kills her parents.

Twenty Years have passed and a fractured Ren now works for Artemis, an organisation set up to contain and then deport these entities back to where they came from. When the Elder God responsible for Ren’s childhood tragedy is caught and brought to the Black Site for deportation, Ren must partner with an unlikely ally as the last line of defence against a wave of worshippers hell bent on releasing their deity back into the world.

With the facility on lockdown and the enemy closing in, Ren has just hours to avenge her parents and prove once and for all that she is worthy of wearing the Artemis uniform.

The film also stars Phoebe Robinson-Galvin (wielding dual swords, no less), Kris Johnson, Angela Dixon, Mike Beckingham (fun fact: he’s the brother of Simon Pegg) and the irrepressible Toby Osmond.

“I am proud to be bringing production back to the Midlands for this one as shooting will take place over the summer in sunny Kidderminster, which will be standing in for middle America believe it or not,” Paton told the Walsall Express & Star.

“The film itself is a cross between John Wick and Men In Black, set in an underground facility. It’s a really cool action movie and I think there is a lot in there for everyone to enjoy.”

If successful, Black Site may serve as the opening chapter of a new supernatural action franchise.

Pandorica and Redwood director Paton was nominated for the second Screen International Genre Rising Star Award, in association with Horror Channel FrightFest 2017 (Danny Morgan scooped the prize for Double Date).

Black Site completed production in summer 2017 and is slated for a 2018 release.
