The Korean Cultural Centre (KCC) has a new and exciting film to introduce to audiences in the UK, and only two weeks after its official release in South Korea!

Continuing on from the centre’s work to promote Korean cinema throughout the year, A Taxi Driver is the latest in a long line of teaser screenings set up by the KCC before their annual London Korean Film Festival.

Following two men who become embroiled in the political movement which changed the country’s history for good, the film is described as a “charming road movie filled with humour”. It then launches into the troubles that the taxi driver Man-seob (Song Kang-ho – Age Of Shadows), and German journalist named Peter (Thomas Kretschmann – Avengers: Age Of Ultron), face in the wake of the Gwangju uprising.

It promises to be a timely exploration into the political climate of South Korea in the 1980s and the many democracy movements that took place after the country’s controlling president was assassinated. Reflecting recent events in the country, the film is sure to be a hit in its home country and abroad.

The film’s European premiere will take place on Monday 14 August at 6.30pm in Picturehouse Central, London. Tickets are £8 for adults and £5 for children, and are available here.
