Have you ever wanted to see Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L Jackson go at it on a road trip across Europe? Trust us, you have, and the result is hilarious.

Michael Bryce (Reynolds) is the best of the best, a world-renowned bodyguard with AAA certification and everything he could ever want: the fast car; the fancy watch; the girl. But when a job goes wrong and one of his clients is killed, it’s all over. Now a washed-up version of his former self, he’s struggling to get by. When Bryce’s ex, Interpol officer Amelia (Elodie Yung), asks for help taking the world’s most notorious hitman to The Hague, he decides it’ll be a chance to get his life back.

Having crossed paths on multiple occasions, Bryce and Darius Kincaid (Jackson) don’t exactly get on. While Bryce has everything planned out, including every possible escape route or slip-up, Kincaid believes all this tip-toeing around could be avoided if he just went off on his own. Like it or not, though, they have to work together if they’re going to make it to their destination in one piece.

There’s no denying that the pair have great chemistry, and their constant bickering is hugely entertaining as they travel from one country to the next. It’s not all about their rivalry, though, as they start to open up about their problems and help each other.

It may not be the most original thing out there but The Hitman’s Bodyguard is a fun and twisted road-trip movie. Thanks to some unexpected character development in Tom O’Connor’s great script, this is one European tour you’ll want to tag along on. Reviewed by Roxy Simons
