Landing with the tagline, “It’s the Devil you’ve sold your soul to. He’s coming,” it seems Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) might have some pretty violent chickens coming home to roost in Marvel’s The Punisher, when it lands later this year.

Here’s the full blurb…

After exacting revenge on those responsible for the death of his wife and children, Frank Castle uncovers a conspiracy that runs far deeper than New York’s criminal underworld. Now known throughout the city as The Punisher, he must discover the truth about injustices that affect more than his family alone.

And here’s Castle working through some of his issues using art therapy, in the medium of sledgehammer and concrete…

While we know The Punisher is going to be with us before the end of the year, Netflix and Marvel are being a little coy about exactly when that might happen. Even the press email we received had a redacted date…

Much like the flickering, misleading jumble of numbers and letters at the end of this trailer.

However… is it just us, or does that look like “9, 01”? Which in US standard dates, would be the 1 September. And the 1 September 2017 just happens to be a Friday, which is the day Netflix likes to drop a whole series online, encouraging a sharp rise in duvet days.

According to IMDB Pro, The Punisher been in post-production since 22 June 2017, which is exactly two months ago, so depending on the effects work needed it could be near completion. If there’s a sneaky drop coming to Netflix – like a Beyonce album hitting iTunes – to help wash away those post-Defenders blues, remember you heard it here first!
