Issue 65 of MyM magazine is out now, featuring Death Note, The Ghoul, MCM Manchester Comic Con and a massive six pages of Japan’s hottest music acts!

EDITOR’S LETTER

Hiya!
We’re all for equal opportunities here at MyM. And we’re not going to judge you based on your background or upbringing, because we know it takes grit to get where you’re going no matter what your start in life was. Honestly, if we described some of the jobs we had before this, you’d be amazed (although that day we had to ferry boxes of pottery to a skip and break every piece so it wouldn’t be stolen, was more cathartic than the most vigorous backrub or longest session of therapy could ever be. TMI? We’ll move on).

It never fails to amaze us how people make it in the world, though, and the tenaciousness of those we meet each issue is truly inspiring. You could be born as the granddaughter of Bing Crosby (see page eight) and feel that entertainment runs through your veins. Or you could be a musician looking to bypass the usual channels of success, who dreams of going it alone with your band and having total control, so you decide to set up your own label (see page 26). You could be tired of sending out film scripts that never get commissioned and decide to fund your own low-budget chiller (see page 76) to get yourself noticed. Or you could be an actor finally stepping behind the camera, who calls in favours from the people you’ve been good to over the years (see page 82).

Everyone in our pages is an extraordinary individual, in the same way that everyone reading this right now is. That’s right, we mean you. We’ve see your enthusiasm for the things we love go to incredible lengths, and the cosplay photos on page eight are the smallest ice cube broken off the tallest iceberg when it comes to that.

So don’t stop doing what you’re doing. Because that’s how the people who make it into the pages of our magazine get there, including the awesome readers we papped at MCM Manchester.
Matt Chapman, Editor-in-chief
