Mark the date: 30 September 2017. ITV Studios Global Entertainment has nominated that Saturday as the first annual International Thunderbirds Day.

The idea is to give fans all over the world a date to mark their love of the original Thunderbirds TV series, as well as its newest form Thunderbirds Are Go.

The date hasn’t merely been plucked from the air, either – International Thunderbirds Day celebrates the date that Gerry Anderson’s creation first appeared in homes across the UK, as the iconic British series aired on 30 September 1965.

Vue Entertainment is helping fans across the UK celebrate with exclusive Thunderbirds Day screenings at 2pm on Saturday 30 September. Held in 52 venues nationwide – in honour of 52 years of Thunderbirds – these will include a never before nationally screened episode of Thunderbirds filmed in Supermarionation like the classic series and using audio recordings starring the original cast. That will be followed by two brand new episodes from Season 2, Part 2 of CITV’s Thunderbirds Are Go, which will be shown on TV later this autumn.

Those attending are encouraged to go dressed as their favourite character and post their photos using the hashtag #FAB@Vue to win exclusive prizes. Tickets and venue details can be found on the Vue website.
