Mark your calendars: The Walking Dead Season 8 will premiere on 23 October 2017 in the UK on FOX. That’s a global day-and-date launch across all FOX channels outside the US, just 24 hours after the US premiere.

More interesting, though, is that Season 7’s final episode (“The First Day of the Rest of Your Life“) was also episode 99 of The Walking Dead, so Season 8 kicks off with the milestone episode 100.

Walking Dead comic fans will know that the 100th comic saw Negan get busy with his baseball bat, marking that milestone by taking out a major character. What’s not known is if the TV production will follow suit when it comes to a major shock, as Negan’s batting practice kicked off Season 7 on the small screen.

As with previous seasons, the show’s eighth instalment includes 16 episodes and will air in two parts, with the first eight episodes kicking off in October and the final eight returning February 2018.

Special Comic Con art has also been released, as San Diego Comic Con kicks off today and both The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead casts will be in attendance. The Walking Dead’s key art also references the 22 October US air date.

AMC will host a fan activation for followers of both shows at MLK Park in San Diego. The sprawling outdoor space will feature interactive experiences and opens Thursday 19 July at 11am, ending Sunday 23 July at 4pm PT.
