With Splatoon 2 set to be released on the Nintendo Switch this week, news comes that an anime series is on the way next month.

Originally reported by Ga-m, the anime will be based on Sankichi Hinodeya’s manga that has been running in CoroCoro Comic since 2015. The manga follows the character Goggles-Kun and his friends Headphones-Chan, Glasses-Kun and Knit Cap-Chan, who get caught up in a Splatoon Turf War.

The anime will debut on CoroCoro’s YouTube channel from 12 August, though it is not yet known if it will be a straight up adaptation, or a new story to tie in with the new game, or if it will even have English subtitles.

Hinodeya also tweeted out a preview of CoroCoro’s Splatoon themed issue to tie in with the release of the new game, as well as hinting at the anime. An English translation of the manga is set to be published by Viz Media later this year.
