Issue 64 of MyM magazine is out now, featuring Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, Glastonbury 2017, MCM Belfast and Dublin Comic Cons and David Lowery’s haunting new film A Ghost Story!

EDITOR’S LETTER

“Will you still be sending me a valentine, birthday greetings, bottle of wine? If I’d been out till quarter to three, would you lock the door? Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I’m 64?”

Welcome to Issue 64! Well, we made it, even if it is only a milestone because of that Beatles song. And while we don’t require you to feed us (got any Pocky?), or leave the latch off when we’re not home by 3am (which regularly still happens), we’re glad you still need us. In appreciation of that, we promise never to take you for granted, as is demonstrated by another stonking issue!

Wonder Woman might still be cleaning up at the box office but we take an in-depth look at a very different comic-book movie: Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (see page 18). If you think you might have seen something similar before, New York Times bestselling author Bryan J Robb explains why (page 20).

We’ve also been racking up those air miles again to bring you the best stories from around the globe. MCM Comic Con brought its pop culture circus to both Belfast and Dublin (see page eight), we risked falling into a rabbit hole as we walked the length of the Glastonbury Festival (page 12), UK Games Expo brought every cool new innovation in board games to Birmingham (page 29), while E3 (page 32) notched up video game launches galore under the heat of the LA sun.

Remarkably, that’s still only scratching the surface, with fashion, cosplay, anime interviews and reviews, indie movie hits and an actor with a love for insects all equally as impressive. We plan to keep these high standards up no matter our age, to keep you coming back when we’ve doubled this anniversary and hit Issue 128!
Matt Chapman, Editor-in-chief
