Deck Nine and Square Enix have given us more insight into the characters of Chloe and Rachel in a new developer diary for Life is Strange: Before the Storm.

Lead writer, Zack Gariss, is joined by story consultant Ashly Burch (who voice Chloe in the original series but was unable to reprise her role in the spin-off due to an ongoing voice actor strike) and the new voice of Chloe, Rhianna Devries, to discuss how they’re approaching the rebellious teen in Before the Storm.

With the game taking place before the events of the original Life is Strange, Deck Nine have been given the opportunity to explore the relationship between Chloe and Rachel – a friendship that plays a key role in the first game, though is rarely discussed in detail.

It’ll form a fundamental part of the three-part series from the new developer, Deck Nine. Meanwhile, the game’s original developers, DONTNOD, are working on a fully-fledged sequel to Life is Strange.

Life is Strange: Before the Storm is scheduled to begin on August 31st with Episode 1: Awake for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
