Final Fantasy XV July update adds Magitek invincibility suits and more

Remember those Magitek Exosuits from Final Fantasy XV that made Noctus, Gladio, Prompto and Ignis look like they were in the new Power Rangers? Well, after a fair bit of ridicule and a stern note from Saban Entertainment, they’re returned to the game with a whole new look.

The July update for Final Fantasy XV re-introduces said suits, which grant you thirty minutes of invincibility per day when equipped. Once the time has expired you can continue to wear them, though it’s difficult to see why you would choose to continue your quest dressed like the Collectors from Mass Effect 2. Each to their own!

That’s not all, though. The July update also adds a new quest, ‘O Partner, My Partner’, which you can pick up from the Meldacio Hunter HQ once you’ve completed Chapter 8, and the ‘Cross Chain’ collaboration system, a rework of the game’s linked attacks mechanic that allows players to chain more together at once.

Finally, the Moogle Chocobo Carnival returns to Altissia. Head there until late September and you can take part in a number of limited-time mini-games.

The update is free to all players, though if you want to head to the carnival you’ll need to download the FFXV Holiday Pack DLC. A version of this comes included with the game’s season pass, or you can download a more limited version for free.

Very soon, season pass holders will also be able to test out the game’s upcoming Comrades multiplayer DLC.
