Sony Pictures has released an intriguing Easter Egg TV spot for The Dark Tower. Based on Stephen King’s epic best-selling novels, the only bit of dialogue in this spot comes from The Gunsligner (Idris Elba), who tells us that “There are other worlds than these.”

The spot itself tells us that “all of his worlds lead to The Dark Tower.” For a short 30 second spot, it’s crammed with references to Stephen King’s work. Some are pretty obvious (Misery’s Child relates to Misery), yet there are a few that are quite obscure (that Plymouth Fury car is a reference to Christine). But how many can you see?

Two new posters were also unveiled by the stars Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey on Twitter. The posters themselves were illustrated by Jae Lee, who worked on The Dark Tower comic books.

The film follows the story of Roland Deschain (Idris Elba), the last Gunslinger, who has been locked in an eternal battle with Walter O’Dim, aka the Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey). Both are on a quest to reach the Dark Tower, which holds the universe together. The Man in Black is intent on toppling the Tower, while The Gunsligner is determined to stop him and defend the Tower.

Directed by Nikolaj Arcel, the film also stars Tom Taylor, Katheryn Winnick, Claudia Kim, Fran Kranz, Jackie Earle Haley and Dennis Haysbert. The Dark Tower opens in the US on 4 August and in the UK on 18 August.
