Tremors TV series on the way with Kevin Bacon returning

STOP THE PRESSES! BEST NEWS EVER!

Tremors is one of the best monster movies ever made. It happens almost entirely in daylight and follows Val (Kevin Bacon) and Earl (Fred Ward), two local handymen in Perfection, Nevada. Perfection…isn’t. It’s a dusty not-quite dead town in the middle of nowhere in Nevada.

But something has just woken up under Perfection. Something hungry…

We know we don’t say this often but if you’ve never seen it before, we envy you. Tremors is a joy and the sequels (Especially the Wild West one!) are massive fun. It was a major part of making Bacon a star too and now….

HE’S BACK.

And better still, he’s back with Blumhouse.

If you’ve seen a horror movie you’ve enjoyed since Paranormal Activity you’ve seen a Blumhouse movie. Their minimum budget, minimum location maximum volume and effort approach has given us The Purge franchise and the stunning Get Out to name but two. They are, without a doubt, the most interesting horror production studio working today.

The thought of them getting Tremors makes us dizzy. The though of Tremors as an eight part TV show? Dizzier.

Talking to Screen Daily, Bacon said:

“It’s the only character I’ve ever played that I was interested in exploring 25 years later…”

The reboot will apparently pick up with Val 25 years after the events of the original movie. We’re sensing an Ash vs Evil Dead approach here and that sounds great. Now, if Fred Ward and Finn Carter, not to mention Michael Gross can be persuaded back? Even better.

More news as we get it. And now we need to watch Tremors again…

Thanks to Screen Daily for the news.
