Fabulous Films Ltd and Fremantle Media Enterprises are releasing two cult classics on Blu-ray: Slaughterhouse Five and The Magic Christian!

Kurt Vonnegut Jr’s classic sci-fi novel Slaughterhouse Five comes to life in this haunting film from acclaimed director George Roy Hill (Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Sting). Starring Michael Sacks as Billy Pilgrim, this dazzling and thought-provoking sci-fi drama was nominated for the Palme D’or in 1972 – and won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival.

Synopsis: Billy Pilgrim is an ordinary World War II soldier with one major exception: he has mysteriously become “unstuck in time”. With his life happening in a seemingly random order, Billy goes on an uncomfortable trip back and forth from his birth in New York to life on a distant planet and back again to the horrors of the 1945 fire-bombing of Dresden.

Zany 1969 British comedy The Magic Christian finds a homeless hobo (Ringo Starr) being adopted by the world’s richest man, Sir Guy Grand (Peter Sellers). Setting sail on luxury liner The Magic Christian, Sir Guy sets out to test the limit of human avarice.

The film is loosely adapted from the 1959 comic novel of the same name by US author Terry Southern. Ringo Starr’s character Youngman Grand doesn’t exist in the novel and was written especially for him. Yul Brynner plays a chanteuse transvestite, along with notable star appearances from John Cleese as the director of Sotheby’s, Raquel Welch, Roman Polanski, Richard Attenborough, Spike Milligan, Graham Chapman and Christopher Lee.

Synopsis: Eccentric billionaire Guy Grand adopts a homeless boy and sets out to prove to him that anyone and anything can be bought with money. Starting with minor spoofs such as bribing a Shakespearean actor to do a striptease during a performance of Hamlet, their stunts gradually become more and more elaborate. When they buy tickets for a luxury liner called The Magic Christian, they involve a whole new social strata. As things aboard the liner appear to be getting out of control, the guests get a shock when they try to abandon ship.
