Ahead of the 11 July 2017 release of Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age on PlayStation 4, MyM spoke exclusively to producer Takashi Katano and director Hiroaki Kato, to uncover the secrets of the remaster of the twelfth entry in the venerable series.

And the pair confirmed that if The Zodiac Age is successful, they would you like to tell more stories from the world of Ivalice, which is well-established in Final Fantasy and across a number of Square Enix titles.

“Of course!” Kato told MyM’s James Pickard. “If we see that players have loved The Zodiac Age and they want to see more games in Ivalice, then we’ll very much look at doing more games in that world.”

Kato also confirmed that the controversial Gambit system, which divided players when Final Fantasy XI was first released, has been re-evaluated. “One of the things we noticed when appraising the original Gambit system was that some of the options that really make the system come alive are not available until quite late in the game. So, we’ve changed when you get these options to ensure the whole tactical system is really fun and interesting earlier in the game.”

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age is released for PlayStation 4 on 11 July 2017.

You can read the full interview with producer Takashi Katano and director Hiroaki Kato in Issue 63 of MyM magazine, which is on sale from 9 June 2017.
