With The Dark Tower arriving in cinemas 28 July followed by It on  8 September, The Mist underway and Castle Rock in production, Stephen King fans are having a busy year. Even better, it looks like a good year too as Castle Rock gains a trailer, a cast and a premise.

For those of you keeping score, that trailer apparently references  including: ItDolores ClaiborneNeedful Things‘Salem’s LotRita Hayworth and Shawshank RedemptionDreamcatcherNight ShiftThe Green MileMiseryHearts In AtlantisThe ShiningThe ManglerFour past MidnightDifferent SeasonsNightmares & Dreamscapes, and The Night Flier. PHEW.

The Hulu series was already set to star André Holland who made such a huge splash in Moonlight and was a vital part of the last season of American Horror Story. Now, he’s been joined by Jane Levy and Sissy Spacek. Holland’s playing Henry, a death-row attorney with a connection to the town of Castle Rock while Spacek is playing his adoptive mother, Ruth Deaver. A retired college professor she, and Levy’s character Jackie, the ‘self-appointed’ historian of the town offer the key to understanding it.

It’s a great cast and we love the idea of a King veteran like Spacek in a show like this. The official description of it is:

‘combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland.’

That and the teaser suggests we’re going to get a lot of inter-connected elements. That would be great although we’re not holding our breaths for mentions of The Dark Tower or Pennywise. Still, we live in terrified hope. More, including a release date,as soon as we get it.

Thanks to Bleeding Cool for the info.
