It’s that time of year again, as the hype engine for the new Star Wars movie begins to power up in earnest. Vanity Fair‘s latest Jedi-related piece, along with the full portfolio of shots by legendary photographer Annie Leibovitz, will be published on Wednesday. In the meantime, it has released the four cover images for the issue and they’re all absolutely beautiful.

Rey and Luke first. We love the determined look Rey has and we’re intrigued by just how identical their colour schemes are. There’s no definitive answer on whether we’ll find out Rey’s parentage this time but we think it’s pretty likely. And the smart money is surely on her second name being ‘Skywalker’.

The internet’s boyfriends are BACK! And damn do they look good. Delighted to see Finn kept the jacket but what really intrigues us are two things. The first is just how Han-like Poe’s dressing now and the second? Rose Tico. Played by Kelly Marie Tran, Rose is an entirely new character who gets drawn into the action this time round. We cannot wait to see what she gets up to and are thrilled at the thought of The Last Jedi doing something so unarguably new, especially after the criticisms of The Force Awakens as essentially a remix of Star Wars plot beats.

Phasma! And two evil white guys with bad hair! The mystery of just how many metric tons of product General Armitage Hux actually uses notwithstanding, both he and Kylo Ren have had wardrobe upgrades. Hux is rocking (well…we say rocking) longer sideburns and looks strangely older. Ren’s outfit is paired all the way back and his scar is way bigger than we thought it’d be.

But let’s face it, this one is all about Phasma. Gwendoline Christie seems to be wielding a pike, which suggests that shot of armoured figures in the mist in the trailer may be Phasma and a unit of troopers. She also looks mad as Hell. Which, given she was thrown in a trash compactor last time, seems fair

Last but never, ever least. Here comes the General. We miss you Carrie Fisher!

The Vanity Fair issue featuring the The Last Jedi coverage is out on 24 May 2017. The Last Jedi is out 15 December 2017. We can’t wait for either.
