There’s still time to register for the annual E2046 GK (Garage Kit) competition at E2046.com and submit your hand-painted figures. This marks the 15th year the toy manufacturer has run the contest and MyM will once again be involved in the judging, as one of E2046’s media partners.

The competition has three categories to enter: Figures; Robots; and Diorama. The 2017 event awards a total value of $2,500 (£1,650) in prizes, across those three categories, with the main winner in each area scooping a $500 coupon to spend on E2046.com. However, this year also adds five merit prizes of $50 for exceptional pieces of work.

Competitors are able to post images of their kit anywhere online, as long as they don’t enter the kits into any other competitions. So it’s no longer a barrier to entry if you happened to have previously spread your work across social media or DeviantArt.

Garage Kits are limited-run figures and statues, usually based on anime and manga characters. Assembly can be more complicated than standard model kits, as resin figures can require sanding, shaping, assembly and painting to bring out their best qualities. The Diorama section of the E2046 competition also looks for figures to be placed in interesting or appropriate surroundings.

The full schedule for the competition is:
31 May: Registration and Submission Ends
7 June: Entries Posted Online
14 June: Public Polling Begins
30 June: End of Public Polling
5 July: Winners Announced
