UK-based Japanese pop outfit No Cars are set to bid farewell to fans this weekend, as they put on their final show before going on indefinite hiatus.

No Cars’ excellent sense of humour is one of the highlights of their live shows. From their line-up of three Japanese girls and a racoon (yes, you read that correctly), to their songs about Tipp-ex’s confidence issues or whether Japanese or Indian curry is the better cuisine, you’re sure to be laughing and cheering alongside them as soon as they step out on stage.

When giving reasons for their break from concerts, the band said on Facebook that, “Haruna wants to explore forests in Nagano, Japan to explore ‘True sound’… Takaco wants to go underground to be friends with moles… and form [an] only bass instruments band… Tomoko wants to be on a David Bowie tribute band as she thinks she is the best look alike person of Bowie… [and] Candy the raccoon wants to live with raccoons because she’s never lived with raccoons.”

No Cars, whose lore sees them as three girls who are farmers by day and idols by night, have released three albums to date. The latest, “Yoko Goes to Bollywood”, was released last year and saw the lead character of their music travel across India in the search of the perfect curry.

The concert is happening on Sunday 23 April at Zigfried von Underbelly in Hoxton, and will see the band celebrate their 10-year career and St George’s Day at the same time. It’s bound to be a great show, and one that celebrates their music with not one but two sets! The first will take place from 8.15pm to 8.45pm, while the second will be from 9pm to 9.30pm. Bing Selfish will be supporting the band on the night.

Tickets for the show are £5 and can be bought on the door on Sunday 23 April.
