EDITOR’S LETTER
As we’ve been busy crafting this issue for your enjoyment, we’ve had some major earworms invade our heads – largely thanks to the return of Guardians of the Galaxy, as Vol. 2 heads to cinemas. Amazingly, Chris Pratt (see page 28) admits that he listened to the soundtrack from the first movie for months every time he worked out. So, by the time the film hit the big screen, he practically hated it!

Don’t worry, he promises that his mom had even better taste when it came to that Vol. 2 tape and that “the songs are primo”. They’ll be reaching our ears too late for them to make an impact on our Top 10 Movie Soundtracks, though (see page 30). Is your fave in there? Elsewhere, we take a look at the work of two amazing authors. First up is Philip K Dick, AKA “the most brilliant sci-fi mind on any planet” (see page 62). Even if you’ve never read a single page of his work (and if you haven’t, we highly recommend seeking it out) chances are he’s touched your life, with Blade Runner and The Man in the High Castle being just two examples of the many works based on his writings. Then we chat to author Neil Gaiman and showrunner Bryan Fuller (see page 68) about how they’ve turned Gaiman’s novel American Gods into your new favourite TV show.

Our well-rounded (and calorie free!) diet of entertainment continues with an in-depth look at the video game Dragon Quest Heroes II (see page 16), while we also dig deep into the story of Voltron (see page 57), charting this anime giant’s boom and bust life. It’s enough to make us forget all about Star-Lord’s Awesome Mix Vol. 1 – oh no, it’s popped in there again! All together now, “Ooga chaka, ooga ooga…”
