Not since the 1980s has there been a My Little Pony film on the big screen. Now the first teaser trailer and poster has been released for the upcoming My Little Pony: The Movie.
Branching off from the successful Friendship is Magic series, it was initially announced back in 2014 that Hasbro were working on a My Little Pony movie to be released through Allspark Pictures and Lionsgate.
Here is the official synopsis for the movie:
“A new dark force threatens Ponyville, and the Mane 6 – Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, and Rarity – embark on an unforgettable journey beyond Equestria where they meet new friends and exciting challenges on a quest to use the magic of friendship and save their home.”
Directed by Jayson Thiessen (who also directed the Equestria Girls films), the movie includes the original cast that voice the Mane 6: Tara Strong, Ashleigh Ball, Andrea Libman and Tabitha St. Germain. It also features the voices of Emily Blunt, Kristin Chenoweth, Liev Schreiber, Michael Peña, Sia, Taye Diggs, Uzo Aduba, and Zoe Saldana.
My Little Pony: The Movie is set for release in the US on 6 October 2017 and arrives in the UK on 20 October 2017.
