Japan’s biggest rock band X Japan certainly know how to make an entrance in the UK, with their most recent visit resulting in broken records and topping music charts.

The day before their Wembley SSE Arena headline show on 4 March, the band held a special signing event at Oxford Street’s HMV. Adding to the excitement of the upcoming concert, the signing prompted over a thousand fans to come to see the band and resulted in the closure of Oxford Street for the duration of the signing.

The band’s new album, which is also the soundtrack for their documentary We Are X, also reached the number on spot in nine countries on iTunes as well as topping the UK Rock and Metal Chart and entering the Top 30 of the UK Albums Chart. The album was released via Sony Music’s Legacy Recordings on 3 March and features the film’s theme song “La Venus”.

X Japan’s documentary We Are X had its UK premiere on 28 February, and was released in cinemas nationwide on 2 March.
