Raza Jaffrey is one of the long list of actors and actresses to die in spectacularly nasty ways in Spooks. Since then he’s been a recurrent star on Elementary, Once Upon A Time In Wonderland and was a series lead in Code Black.

Now? He’s going into space.

The Netflix Lost In Space reboot has added Jaffrey to its cast in a recurrent role. According to Deadline, he’ll be playing a character called Victor, described as follows:

Well groomed, educated and officious, with a sense of entitlement, Victor has been a career builder and politician from a young age. There is arrogance and impatience about him. All this masks the underlying fear that he’ll one day be found out — that he isn’t quite good enough.

Given this is Lost In Space, we’re a little surprised that a character who appears to be pretty Earth bound is going to be a recurrent. But we do have a theory. What if this version of Lost In Space cuts between the family Robinson and the attempt to find them on Earth? A character like Victor would fit that role like a glove and that sort of near-antagonist would be a perfect spot to put Jaffrey. Plus it’d be an interesting, and fitting, update to the series.

Jaffrey joins Toby Stephens and Molly Parker as John and Maureen Robinson, Ignacio Serricchio as Don West, Taylor Russell, Maxwell Jenkins and Mina Sundwall as the Robinson children and Parker Posey as Doctor Smith. The show will hit Netflix next year.
