Netflix have been churning out original content at a frankly astonishing rate of knots for a while. Now, they’re poised to put together their first animated motion picture. Deadline report that America: The Motion Picture is going to be an R-rated, revisionist take on the history of the country.

Yeah that does sound a little worrying, doesn’t it?

We suspect Netflix feel the same which is why they’ve put together an Ocean’s Eleven-esque team to pull this off.

Channing Tatum will star as the voice of George Washington. That’s already a great start given how both Magic Mike movies and 21 Jump Street showed just how effortlessly good his comic timing is. Behind the camera it’s just as impressive. The producers of both Archer and The Lego Movie are overseeing the movie, The script is by Expendables creator Dave Callaham who is also show runner on Amazon’s surprisingly great Jean-Claude Van Johnson so between those four sets of talent this is looking pretty promising.

No word on a release yet but as soon as we have something we’ll let you know.
