The London Korean Film Festival may not be back until November this year, but that doesn’t mean that the Korean Cultural Centre hasn’t got a few cool things planned in the run-up to the event.

A Quiet Dream is the first of a series of teaser screenings put on by the KCC this year, and will take place this Monday 20 March, at the Regent Street Cinema in London. The event is the UK premiere of Zhang Lu’s 11th feature film, one that continues the director’s trend of presenting unique stories that blur the lines between fantasy and reality.

Starring three great Korean film directors Yang Ik-june, Park Jong-bin and Park Jung-bum as characters of the same names, the film follows the friendship between a young woman and the three men the directors play. Yeri (Han Ye-ri) is a Chinese Korean immigrant living in Seoul who is caring for her paralysed father as well as running a small bar, Ik-june, meanwhile, is a former small-time gangster, Jong-bin is the son of the bar’s landlord, and Jung-bum is a North Korean defector.

As its name suggests, the film is an unassuming look into the characters’ lives. The directors also play characters they had created in their previous films, a factor that only adds to the dream-like state that Lu strives to perfect. Having opened the Busan International Film Festival last year, this film shouldn’t be missed!

The screening takes place on March 20 at 19.30, tickets cost £8 and can be found here.
