With K-pop gaining more momentum and still growing, often you will hear fans talking about their favourite group, while a more mature member of the community will mention a group from back in the day, only to be looked at quizzically, and asked, “Who?”

With K-POP GO we are offering a chance for K-pop fans to learn a little bit of history about the Korean music genre they enjoy, and about the artists and entertainers who paved the way and inspired the many new artists and entertainers of the new era. There will be four sub-categories, starting with:

Blast From The Past

In true “Throwback Thursday” style, K-pop fans will be introduced to some of the first big names to take the Korean music scene by storm, from 1992 all the way to 1999. “Blast From The Past” will be a gateway to some of the most popular girl and boy groups of their time, an era where K-pop was beginning to make its mark inside and outside of Korea.

Millennial Magic

A lot of mature fans seem to have joined the K-pop community around the 2000-2009 era, a key point of musical movement where fangirls and fanboys began to be more prominent and (almost) as important as the idols themselves. Some of the big names such as Super Junior, Big Bang, TVXQ, Epik High, and Brown Eyed Girls come from this era, so keep an eye open for them!

Back To The Future

The reasoning for the name is that this section will take us from 2010 all the way to 2019, and is relative to most of the newcomers to the K-pop movement. There are so many new groups and singers being introduced monthly that it’s really hard to remember them all – so this will be the place for all of the latest updates.

Indie Underground

With more prominent indie artists making their journey to Europe, along with some great underground rappers and entertainers, it’s also good to give them some love and to introduce a new style, sound, and genre of music that old and new fans of Korean music might not have thought about. There have been some great concerts and festivals within the UK which have hosted some really amazing talent, but few know of these one of a kind acts.
