AMC Announce New Anthology Series ‘The Terror’, Arriving 2017

The Terror

AMC have gained quite a reputation for doing genre TV right, as The Walking Dead, Fear The Walking Dead and the magnificent Into The Badlands have all shown. Now, they’re taking a step into the anthology market, and doing so in an interesting and rather odd way.

The Terror is an adaptation of Dan Simmons’ best selling novel. Set in 1847, it’s the story of a Royal Navy expedition searching for the Northwest Passage. The crew come under attack from a strange predator and must struggle against the elements, and their new foe, to survive.

Written by David Kajganich (True Story, A Bigger Splash), who will also serve as co- show-runner with Soo Hugh (The Whispers, The Killing), the series is set to debut in 2017 and will apparently balance science fiction, horror and historical non-fiction. No word on why it’s an anthology show quite yet, but given the novel is both non linear and uses flashbacks it seems a safe bet to assume we’ll be seeing that format on screen. Either way, given the source material and the excellent team involved, including Executive Producers Ridley Scott and David W.Zucker, we’re looking forward to this one.
