NBC Promises No Quick Cancellations For New Comedy Slate

It’s hard to believe that US network NBC used to effectively own sitcoms. The network that ran Friends, they helped define the concept of must-see TV but have never quite reached those heights again. Last week, Jennifer Salke, their Entertainment President talked frankly about this at SeriesFest in Denver.

THR have the full story but the quote to focus on, especially after the multi-network cancel fest last season (LIMITLESS! WHYYYYYYY?!) is this:

“we won’t cancel shows quickly.”

That’s a relief across the board, especially given the change in philosophy it hopefully signals. It also bodes very well for one particular CBS show we’re looking forward to; Powerless.

powerless

The DC Universe-set sitcom certainly has star power, with Vanessa Hudgens, Community alum Danny Pudi and everything alum Alan Tudyk front and center. The trailer looks promising too, and, with this news, it seems like the show will get a chance to find it’s feet. Breathe out, everyone, no need for any petitions. Yet.
