Issue 51 of MyM, the official magazine of MCM Comic Con, is out now! Featuring sci-fi hit Dark Matter. MCM London Comic Con and the return of Star Ocean!

EDITOR’S LETTER

So many goodies. So little time. That’s our standard reaction to an MCM London Comic Con (see page 20 for more on that). Pack into the arena to see the special guests or prioritise our hunt for awesome merchandise? Snap the best cosplay touring the halls or catch epic virtual battles on the eSports stage? Sample the best tempura this side of Tokyo or hit the Video Zone to meet top YouTubers? We feel the same when it comes to cherry picking the best entertainment treats for this magazine.

Every month the best movies, comics, video games, cosplay, anime and manga fight for a place in MyM, as we serve up the same brilliant mix of entertainment as an MCM Comic Con. There’s so much goodness on display this month that we’ve got not one but two cover features!

Hot new show Dark Matter returns to our screens with a whole new set of challenges for its spaceship full of misfits. MyM spoke exclusively to co-creator Joe Mallozzi (see page 17) about the anime influences that shaped his vision.

The other series making a welcome return is Star Ocean. After a seven-year hiatus the video game franchise is back with its thrilling blend of sci-fi and fantasy. Flip this magazine upside down to hear producer Kobayashi Shuichi’s views about the recent big changes in JRPG development, as well as his thoughts on the potential future of the series.

Naturally, we’ve also got exclusive chats with the big-name London guests (starting on page 20), Robert Muchamore on the end of his young adult novel series Cherub (page 17), Deadpool’s greatest breaks from between the pages of a comic book (page 26), film director Kevin Greutert on his new horror Visions (page 28) and 51 reviews and previews − so you don’t end up with a dud purchase or a disappointing trip to the cinema. Enjoy.
