“They are in your houses. Your schools. Your hospitals. And they are angry.” No, this isn’t the new campaign of the “Out” campaign for the Euro referendum preying on our immigrant paranoia. This is the tagline for Hunters, a new alien invasion show coming imminently from Syfy US. Four trailers have just been released.

Created by The Walking Dead producer Gale Anne Hurd and 12 Monkeys producer Natalie Chaidez, Hunters is based on Whitley Strieber’s Alien Hunter book series (Strieber is the author infamous for claiming he was actually abducted by aliens, an experience he wrote about in Communion).

The series follows decorated FBI agent Flynn (Wolf Creek’sNathan Phillips) who, while investigating his wife’s disappearance, discovers a secret government unit called the Exo Terrorism Unit. He joins the ETU, where he is partnered with Regan (Brite Oldford), one of the team’s most valuable operatives. To reveal why would reveal one of the show’s big hooks…

Julian McMahon (Nip/Tuck, Charmed) also stars as McCarthy, a deranged junkie and Hunter cell leader. Syfy promises that “Hunters will push boundaries by redefining what makes a terrorist and offer a unique crossover twist between gritty crime drama and sci-fi thriller.”
