Origami A Charity Gig11 March will mark five years since the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan that left the Tohoku region in ruin, as well as the disaster at Fukushima’s nuclear power plant. A great deal of aid is still needed to support the region as the residents continue to try and rebuild their lives.

To show that we haven’t forgotten about those in need, Japanese street kitchen Peko Peko will hold a charity event on Saturday 12 March 2016 at The Pipeline in London. The event will be filled with live music, Japanese food and Origami goods.

Live music will provided by:

Les Inconnus:

A group brought together by guitarist Jon Miyawaki that play authentic Parisian style acoustic jazz and swing.

Selina:

A unique’ rock/pop influenced singer and songwriter with original releases in both Japanese and English.

The Picaresque:

A loud and energetic Japanese alternative rock band based in London.

Esprit D’Air:

Closing out the show is Esprit D’Air. Having garnered a cult following with their charismatic performances reminiscent of a young X Japan, they have a style that can only be described as: “Shibuya meets Sunset Strip”. Their sound is unique and fresh in its ability to fuse hard-hitting aggression with melodic interludes and blistering guitar solos.

Plus, Tom of JPU Records will be on the decks playing a mix of J-pop and J-rock.

The venue is The Pipeline Bar, 94 Middlesex Street, London, E1 7EZ, with the doors opening at 7pm. There will be a £5 donation for entry collected at the door. If you’re feeling hungry, there will also be the option of buying a food ticket for £5. All donations collected at the event will go to Aoba-gakuen, an orphanage in Fukushima. The funds collected will be used to provide care and activities for the children there.
