Congratulations to Dragusanu Alexandra from Bordon, Hampshire, who drew this month’s Mya Tenshi in MyM magazine. She wins a bundle of Kuretake goodies with an RRP of £70!

The official mascot of MyM appears on page three of the magazine, above the editor’s letter. She has been drawn in many forms by artists who are MyM readers, as well as by a number of professional artists.

Dragusanu sketched Mya on a Wacom Intuos Pro digital tablet, using PaintTool SAI as her main tool of choice. You can see the creative process below and find more of her work at her personal page on the Deviantart website.

“The process is quite easy: I quickly sketch a base, then it takes me a tiny bit longer for the line-art (not to mention that sometimes I can re-draw a line over 50 times if I don’t like the way it goes),” Dragusanu tells us over email. “After I’ve done the clean line-art, I just colour it in the ‘old-fashioned’ way (like you’d colour with normal pencils on paper). At the end, I add a background or I edit the picture here and there and done! The whole process can take me from four hours straight to two days (depending on my mood that day). When it is something important, I try to focus on it and finish it as quick as possible.”

To submit your own version of Mya Tenshi and be in with the chance of winning Kuretake art supplies worth £70,  email your artistic vision to competitions@mymags.net. Visit the Mya Tenshi competition page on MCM Buzz for full details and terms and conditions.
