Were you part of PsychFi Lab’s virtual reality world record attempt at MCM London Comic Con? The event took place on Sunday 25 October 2015 as part of the Vidfest line-up and used the company’s awesome VR app, #HackThePlanet. If you were there wearing one of the 300 free cardboard VR headsets handed out by BrizTech, then congratulations! You helped break a world record! The official RecordSetter.com world record for a shared VR viewer experience now stands at 198 people.
The rules were simple: all participants had to use their own VR viewer or headset (any brand); be in the same non-virtual location; and be in sync for at least 15 seconds. The attempt was made using the free #HackThePlanet iOS and Android app and was verified by RecordSetter.com using video from the event.
The viewing experience was enhanced by live music from Revenge of Calculon and involved YouTube creators Ashens, MrWeebl, Lee Hardcastle, Out The Box, Noodlerella and Sammy.
Psych Fi Lab says #HackThePlanet’s immersive cyberdelic parallel universe was inspired by the anniversaries of the geek EDM cult classic movie Hackers and cyberpunk composer Simon Boswell (Ashens & The Quest For The Game Child, Burn:Cycle, Drug Bust Doody). You can download the free #HackThePlanet App on Android (where it has a 4.7 star rating) and iOS by visiting the PsychFi Lab website.
