MYM Issue 37 BannerIssue 37 of MyM, the official magazine of MCM Expo Group, is out now! Featuring an in-depth look at Avengers: Age Of Ultron with writer/director Joss Whedon, the best indie videogames from EGX Rezzed, some gruesome ways to die on the big screen, the top fan-made content available online and exclusive chats with five fantasy authors – giving you amazing tips on how to get your own work published…

EDITOR’S LETTER

There you are, everything going a bit Bonnie Tyler as you hold out for a hero, when 10 show up at once! Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, the Incredible Hulk, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Nick Fury and new signups Vision, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver make quite a formidable team – what enemy could truly stand against them?

According to writer/director Joss Whedon (see our interview on page 18), Ultron is “the only guy that can really give the Avengers a run for their money”. This self-aware and sentient being isn’t the calm, collected automaton so often portrayed in movies – rage issues can push this bonkers ’bot to throw a hissy fit when he doesn’t get his way, with James Spader providing the volatile vocals. Since he can recreate himself, Ultron also comes with his own personal army. Nice.

The unlucky few in this month’s Top 10 (see page 69) will have little sympathy for the task that lies ahead for the Avengers. That’s because, cinematically speaking, they’re already dead. Check out our countdown of the most gruesome movie deaths to see who bought the biggest one.

Those hoping to form their own superteam, meanwhile, should head to our news section (see page 13) to learn about a pan-European effort to build a network of cosplayers. Started by Marvel fans in Germany, the Young Avengers Europe hopes to seek out convention goers across the continent. Will you answer the call?

And if you’re still holding out for a hero, our current fave version of that song is by Nothing But Thieves and was used by the History Channel to promote series two of Vikings. As Marvel’s other superteam would say: you’re welcome.
