Issue 36 of MyM, the official magazine of MCM Expo Group, is out now! Featuring Final Fantasy Type-0, David Lynch’s Twin Peaks, Ju-on: The Beginning Of The End, Tokyo Ghoul, Parasyte,  Jim Kay on Harry Potter, Eduardo Sanchez on bigfoot and the long-awaited album from The Grubby Mitts,…

EDITOR’S LETTER

You normally find entertainment magazines getting a little bit horrific around Halloween, when everyone from TV channels to film companies push out their wares designed to scare audiences silly. We don’t follow the zombie herds in our coverage at MyM, so whenever horror raises its disfigured head, we dish it out to you promptly. Don’t worry, we know you can take it.

For starters, we check out a gruesome double bill of anime: Tokyo Ghoul and Parasyte (see pages 36 and 38). Cannibal anime (try saying that 10 times really quickly) Tokyo Ghoul is the age old story of boy meets girl, girl eats boy, while Parasyte sees alien worms infesting human brains – leaving teen Shinichi to strike back against the icky extraterrestrials using his own private arm-y, so to speak.

Ju-on (see page 21), Japan’s most successful horror franchise, also heads back to western shores in 2015, allowing us to take a look back at its bloody beginnings and fast forward to the latest terrifying chapter. Even Twin Peaks borrows some horror iconography, as it asks: who killed Laura Palmer? Don’t worry, our guide for noobs ahead of the Twin Peaks revival next year doesn’t give away any spoilers.

Amazingly, even Final Fantasy is getting in on the action, with the most adult offering it’s ever created. Read the start of our feature on page 18 to get a glimpse of the full horror of war that awaits gamers in Final Fantasy Type-0 HD. Don’t have nightmares!
